YOUNG ROYALS is a Swedish teen drama series set in the fictional elite boarding school Hillerska. The six-episode series premiered on Netflix on July 1, 2021 and was created by Lisa Ambjörn, Lars Beckung and Camilla Holter. On September 22, 2021, it was announced that a second season was in production, with a 2022 release. YOUNG ROYALS consists of 18 episodes of 50 minutes.

STORY: The season follows Prince Wilhelm (Edvin Ryding) as he enrolls in a boarding school after a scandal about him is revealed to the public. There, he must deal with dealings with other teenagers his age, while trying to hide his emerging sexuality and his newfound attraction to one of his male classmates. When his brother dies, he becomes heir to the throne and Prince Wilhelm gains fame, especially when his sexuality becomes national news.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Other students in Prince Wilhelm's (Edvin Ryding) class are nobles like Felice or the sons of other Swedish landowners. But Wilhelm falls in love with Simon (Omar Rudberg) instead, who is not noble. One night, Simon and Wilhelm are secretly filmed by August (Malte Gåldinger). An international scandal breaks out and Wilhelm is forced by Queen Kristina (Pernilla August) to deny he is in the video. Wilhelm eventually denies it is him in the sex tape and this hurts Simon.
