WHAT/IF (stylized as WHAT/ IF) is an American thriller miniseries, created by Mike Kelley, that premiered on May 24, 2019, on Netflix. WHAT/IF consists of 10 episodes of 1 hour.
STORY: What/If is a neo-noir thriller that, according to Deadline Hollywood's Nellie Andreeva, explores "the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things". Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Marcos Ruiz (Juan Castano) is an attorney and Lionel (John Clarence Stewart) is Marcos' boyfriend and a real estate broker. Marcos is in a relationship with Lionel and feels a bit too reserved compared to his boyfriend’s former rowdy lifestyle. This leads Marcos to venturing out in various gay clubs, mingling with a hot stripper Kevin (Derek Smith), and trying to find himself. This leads to hot and heavy threesomes.

SPECIAL: The three men are not just gay characters with a gay love triangle, and the regular tacky, gay story. These characters debating about their life choices, having a near mid-life crisis, and consider jumping ship into a new relationship because the old one is just too comforting. Derek Smith played a pansexual stripper who becomes more than just a third in a gay couple’s relationship. Smith branded this unusually storyline into a quite possible one and is the most likeable character in the series. Stripper with a heart of gold who wants you to discover yourself.
