UnREAL (stylized as UnREAL) is an American drama television series that premiered on Lifetime on June 1, 2015. Created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, the show is inspired by Shapiro's award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze. UnREAL consists of 38 episodes of 42 minutes.
STORY: Producer Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby) returns to Everlasting, a popular dating show after a slump. With a reputation for rebuilding and executive producer Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) breathing down her neck, Rachel must pull out all the stops at what she does best: manipulate the contestants to create the outrageous drama viewers expect.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Jay Carter (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman) is a gay Everlasting producer who is initially one of Rachel's only friends. He soon crosses swords with Quinn and becomes willing to step across the border to gain favour with Chet (Craig Bierko). He later produces his own show, Passport to Dance. Alexi Petrov (Alex Sparrow) (season 3, recurring season 4) is a closeted gay contestant who is a "bad boy" ballet dancer and an apparently recovering cocaine addict. He stars in Jay's new reality show Passport to Dance.

SPECIAL: Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman took a few months off acting because he wasn't happy with the roles being offered. That changed when he auditioned for "UnREAL" in which he didn't have to hide who he was. "I knew I wanted to play mostly queer characters," "In this industry, as an openly queer actor or entertainer, you can play the game your way, or you can play it the industry way. And I decided playing it my way I played it industry way for way too long and felt like i was dimming my own light".
AWARDS: ‘UnREAL’ won 2 Primetime Emmys. 5 wins & 21 nominations.
