SUCCESSION is an American satirical black comedy-drama television series created by Jesse Armstrong that aired for four seasons on HBO from June 3, 2018, to May 28, 2023. SUCCESSION consists of 39 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: Succession follows the Roy family, which owns the New York City-based global media conglomerate Waystar RoyCo. The family patriarch, Logan Roy (Brian Cox), has experienced a decline in health. His four children—estranged oldest son Connor (Alan Ruck), power-hungry Kendall (Jeremy Strong), irreverent Roman (Kieran Culkin), and politically savvy Shiv (Sarah Snook)—who all have varying degrees of connection to the company.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Tom Wambsgans (Matthew MacFadyen) is Shiv's fiancé and then her husband. He ingratiates himself with those more powerful than he, but torments his hapless subordinate Greg Hirsch (Nicholas Braun). Greg is the bumbling yet opportunistic grandson of Logan's brother Ewan. Greg is unfamiliar with the rough terrain he must navigate to win Logan over, and finds himself indentured to Tom Wambsgans in his quest for a place at Waystar and with the family. The pair develop an alliance/pseudo/homoerotic-friendship over the course of the season. Tom and Greg are regularly shown watching one another.

SPECIAL These sensual expressions are echoed through dialogue. Tom and Greg’s conversations frequently reference their mutual desire. “Are you trying to seduce me?” Greg jokingly asks at an expensive dinner. A blushing Tom confirms through laughter that he is. When their office is put under lockdown and the two are sequestered in a safe room, Tom disparagingly refers to this as “hiding in the closet.”
