STRIKE BACK is a British/American action-adventure/espionage drama television series based on the 2007 novel by Chris Ryan. The six-part first series began broadcasting on Sky One on May 5, 2010. STRIKE BACK consists of 77 episodes of 45 minutes.
STORY: The series follows the actions of Section 20, a secretive division of the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS or MI6), which carries out various high-risk missions around the world. John Porter (Richard Armitage) resigned from the SAS after the aftermath of a rescue mission in Iraq on the eve of the 2003 invasion that killed two fellow soldiers. Apparently by a thirteen-year-old boy who Porter hadn't killed and is therefore holding himself accountable. Seven years later, Porter is reinstated after the kidnapping of journalist Katie Dartmouth (Orla Brady) by the same terrorists he fought seven years earlier, including the same boy, As'ad. Porter manages to save Dartmouth and joins Section 20, led by Hugh Collinson (Andrew Lincoln), who was also present during the ill-fated mission.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Leatherby (Dougray Scott) and his lover Farhan (Daniel Ben Zenou) have an incredibly dark and tumultuous love-hate relationship and somehow a great source of the underlying tension.

SPECIAL: The television series is based on a novel of the same name by Chris Ryan, a former SAS soldier known as the sole member of his unit, Bravo Two Zero, who escaped capture by Iraqi forces during the 1991 Gulf War. He was considered the most difficult escape for a British soldier. Ryan became a novelist after leaving the SAS.
