SPECIAL is an American comedy-drama streaming television series created by Ryan O'Connell for Netflix. The series, starring O'Connell, is a semi-autobiographical account of his life as a gay man with cerebral palsy who pursues new friendships, relationships and independence. SPECIAL consists of 16 episodes of 15 minutes.

STORY: Special is "a distinctive and uplifting new series about a gay man, Ryan Hayes (Ryan O'Connell), with mild cerebral palsy who decides to rewrite his identity and eventually pursue the life he wants." Although Ryan O'Connell and Ryan Hayes have many similarities and a favorite expression ("Chic!"), it turns out that O'Connell is wiser and much more confident than his fictional avatar.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Ryan (Ryan O'Connell) really needs to get his shit together. In addition to getting over writer's block, he finds himself charmed by Tanner (Max Jenkins), "a fun, flirty dance instructor who charms Ryan despite not being totally available." Taner is set to be played by Jenkins and meets Ryan at a bar. He's a former backup dancer so we are expecting a few moves from him.
