SPARTACUS (also known as SPARTACUS Blood and Sand) is an American television series, produced in New Zealand, that premiered on Starz on January 22, 2010 and ended on April 12, 2013. Executive producers Steven S. DeKnight and Robert Tapert focused on structuring the events of the obscure early life of Spartacus. SPARTACUS consists of 33 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: The fictional series is inspired by the historical figure Spartacus (Andy Whitfield [2010] and Liam McIntyre [2012-2013]), a Thracian gladiator who led a major slave revolt against the Roman Republic from Capua from 73 to 71 BC.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: In Seasons 1-3, Agron (Dan Feuerriegel) is a German gladiator who was sold to Batiatus' Ludus (John Hannah). He was the first to join Spartacus in his revolt. In seasons 2-3, Nasir (Pana Hema Taylor) is a young slave freed from a villa by Spartacus and his rebel army. And there begins the love story between two gay rebel fighters, Agron and Nasir.

Nasir (Pana Hema Taylor) & Agron (Daniel Feurerriegel)

PANA HEMA TAYLOR (2012-2013) September 14, 1989, Auckland City, New Zealand

DANIEL FEUERRIEGEL (2010-2013) October 29, 1981, Sydney, Australia

SPECIAL: Feuerriegel: "I would have been disappointed if they only cared about two men having sex and keeping their relationship purely physical. I think that would have been disrespectful. I like the fact that there was a deeper element. to play and to access those deeper emotions I think the best part of their relationship is that the audience has seen it from the very beginning and it has continued until this season. It shows that love is everywhere. Regardless who you are or who you love, love is love".

AWARDS: ‘SPARTACUS’ 4 wins & 16 nominations.
