THE SOPRANOS is an American crime drama television series created by David Chase. The pilot was ordered in 1997 and the show premiered on HBO on January 10, 1999. THE SOPRANOS consists of 86 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: Set primarily in New Jersey and New York City, the series follows Tony Soprano (James Gandofini), a New Jersey-based Italian-American mobster, who tries to balance his family life with his role as boss of the Soprano -family. Tony suffers from panic attacks and has therapy sessions with psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco) throughout the series). Tony eventually comes into conflict with his uncle Junior (Dominic Chianese), his wife Carmela (Edie Falco), other mobsters within the Soprano family, and the New York City-based Lupertazzi family, putting his life in danger.
