THE SOCIETY is an American teen detective series created by Christopher Keyser, which was released via streaming on Netflix on May 10, 2019. Although the series was initially renewed for a second season, it was eventually canceled after one season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. THE SOCIETY consists of 10 episodes of 58 minutes.

STORY: The Society follows the story of a group of teenagers who must learn to run their own community after the rest of the population of their town (West Ham, Connecticut) has disappeared. The mystery begins when the local high school students return early from a cancelled field trip and discover that everyone is gone. A dense forest has appeared around the city and the outside world apparently no longer exists and cannot be reached by telephone or internet. The teens must make up their own rules to survive with limited resources.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Sam Eliot (Sean Berdy) is deaf. Grizz Visser (Jack Mulhern) is a former football player. The relationship between Sam Eliot and Grizz Visser, which initially may have started as a crush on the latter, developed into a romance between the two. After spending a day going through farming techniques together, Grizz finally tells Sam how to say "kiss me" in sign language and Sam does, resulting in them sleeping together afterwards. Grizz admits to Sam that he is gay.
