STORY: It depicts the life of the Fisher family, who run a funeral home in Los Angeles with their friends and loved ones. Nate Fisher (Peter Krause) inherits the property of Fisher & Sons Funeral Home with his brother David (Michael C. Hall), owned by his father (Richard Jenkins) who suddenly dies. The Fisher clan also includes widow Ruth Fisher (Frances Conroy) and daughter Claire Fisher (Lauren Ambrose). Other regulars include funeral director and family friend Federico Diaz (Freddy Rodriguez), Nate's on-again, off-again friend Brenda Chenowith (Rachel Griffiths), and David's long-term boyfriend Keith Charles (Mathew St. Patrick).
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: David Fisher (Michael C. Hall) is the middle kid, he's uptight and coming to terms with being gay. Keith Charles (Mathew St. Patrick) is David's on-off significant other, he is a member of the LAPD.

SPECIAL: The show focuses on human mortality, the symbiotic nature of life and death that feed each other, the death industry, and the lives of those who deal with it on a daily basis. For the Golden Globe Awards, the series won Best Drama Series in 2001 and received nominations in 2002 and 2003. Rachel Griffiths won Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or TV Movie in 2001 and received a nomination in 2002 in the Lead Actress category. Frances Conroy won Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2003.
