SANTA BARBARA is an American television soap opera that aired on NBC from July 30, 1984, to January 15, 1993. The serial was produced by Dobson Productions and New World Television. SANTA BARBARA consists of 2137 episodes of 45 minutes.
STORY: The series revolves around the eventful lives of the wealthy Capwell family of Santa Barbara, California. Other prominent families featured on the soap were the rival Lockridge family, and the more modest Andrade and Perkins families. Santa Barbara is notable for having a central plot around which many of the others revolve: the murder of Channing Capwell, Jr. (Jed Allan) This killing takes place five years before the series actually begins, at which point Joe Perkins (Dane Witherspoon), jailed for the murder, is paroled and returns to Santa Barbara determined to prove his innocence. Over the course of the soap, almost every major character would be accused of the murder of Channing Capwell, Jr.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: During Channing‘s Capwell (Robert Brian Wilson) love-affair with Santana (Gina Gallego), Channing Junior maintained a homosexual relation with Lindsay Smith (Joel Bailey), a friend he seems to have met at the time of his law studies. And it seems that Channing was deeply in love with him. They were used to refind each other in the tunnel that connected the Capwell mansion to the Lockridges. This heavy secret revealed out by Mason (Lane Davis) will contribute to his rupture with Channing Chapwell.
