RIPPER STREET Episode 2.5 is a fictional BBC drama set in Whitechapel that follows the infamous murders of Jack the Ripper. The first episode aired on December 30, 2012. A second series was confirmed in January 2013. The third series was produced by Amazon Prime Instant Video uploaded to the Amazon UK site from November 2014. A fourth series aired weekly from January 15, 2016. RIPPER STREET consists of 36 episodes of 59 minutes.
STORY: The streets of Whitechapel are the haunt of Detective Inspector Edmund Reid (Matthew MacFadyen) and his team of officers, who strive to maintain law and order in a place once terrorized by Jack the Ripper.
GAY COUPLE STORY: In episode 2.5 as the police raid a homosexual brothel Reid investigates the murder of telegraph boy Otto Roberts though the intended victim David Goodbody (Alfie Stewart) was in bed with his boyfriend Vincent (Jassa Ahluwalia) at the time. The boys were planning to blackmail Solomon Quint (Scott Handy), a married banker recently dismissed from his post. Quint is found dead but Homer deduces that he was murdered and his death made to resemble suicide.

SPECIAL: The real Edmund Reid was only 1.60m tall, the shortest of any investigator in his district. The actor who portrays him is six feet. The real Reid sported a full beard and moustache. When the show was cancelled by the BBC, an online petition to save it attracted over 40,000 signatures.
