QUEER AS FOLK is a Canadian-American serial drama series that ran from December 3, 2000 to August 7, 2005. The series was produced for Showtime and Showcase by Cowlip Productions, Tony Jonas Productions, Temple Street Productions and Showtime Networks. Based on the British series of the same name by Russell T Davies. QUEER AS FOLK consists of 83 episodes of 47 minutes. 

STORY: The series follows the lives of five gay men living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Brian (Gale Harold), Justin (Randy Harrison), Michael (Hal Sparks), Emmett (Peter Paige), and Ted (Scott Lowell); a lesbian couple, Lindsay (Thea Gill) and Melanie (Michelle Clunie), and Michael's mother Debbie (Sharon Gless) and his uncle Vic (Jack Wetherall). A main character Ben (Robert Gant) was added in the second season.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE 1: Justin (Randy Harrison) loses his virginity to Brian (Gale Harold) at age 17 and falls in love with him. He runs away from home after coming out, mostly because his father doesn't accept his sexuality. Nicknamed "Sunshine" by Debbie for his bright smile and cheerful disposition, Justin is beaten up by a queer at the end of Season 1, leading to Brian taking him home during Season 2.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE 2: Michael (Hal Sparks) has been Brian's (Gale Harold) best friend since adolescence, Michael secretly has feelings for him. After a somewhat tempestuous relationship with the older Dr. David Cameron (Chris Potter) during Season 1. Michael is in a long-term relationship with Ben Bruckner (Robert Gant), an HIV-positive college professor, beginning in Season 2. Michael and Ben eventually get married toward the end of Season 4.
