QUEEN CHARLOTTE: A BRIDGERTON STORY  is an American costume drama created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. The series is a prequel spin-off of the Bridgerton series. The series premiered on May 4, 2023. QUEEN CHARLOTTE: A BRIDGERTON STORY consists of 6 episodes of 58 minutes.

STORY: The story focuses on the early life of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), a historical figure who played a supporting role in the fictional Bridgerton. The series is mainly set in 1761, but also in 1817 with mainly the characters from Bridgerton.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Brimsley (Hugh Sachs) has spent his entire life serving Queen Charlotte. When an older Charlotte finally does ask Brimsley about his personal life — whether he ever married or had a family — he demurs, insisting his life has been dedicated to her.  However when Brimsley was young, he had a relationship with the King's valet, Reynolds (Freddie Dennis), making them the first homosexual love story in the Bridgerton universe.

Young Brimsley (Sam Clemmett) & Reynolds (Freddie Dennis)

SAM CLEMMETT (2023) October 1, 1993, Brundall, UK

FREDDIE DENNIS (2023) July 30, 1997, London, UK

SPECIAL: Though their romance isn't public knowledge, the show does a phenomenal job of building it without being performative. Reynolds and Brimsley get plenty of steamy interludes (some quite literally, given their bathtub setting), and Clemmett and Dennis had ample assistance from an intimacy coordinator.

AWARDS: ‘QUEEN CHARLOTTE: A BRIDGERTON STORY’ won 1 Primetime Emmys. 5 wins 32 nominations
