UN PROFESSORE (Int. title: A Professor) is an Italian television series broadcast in prime time on Rai 1 since 11 November 2021. Un Professore is partly based on the format of the Catalan series Merlí. It is directed by Alessandro D'Alatri in the first season and by Alessandro Casale in the second season, produced by Rai Fiction in collaboration with Banijay Studios Italy. UN PROFESSORE consists of 24 episodes of 45 minutes.
STORY: Dante Balestra (Alessandro Gassman) is the new philosophy professor at the Leonardo Da Vinci scientific high school in Rome, where he has returned after eight years of absence to be with his son, Simone (Nicolas Maupas), now that Floriana (Christiane Filangieri), his ex-wife, is about to move to Glasgow. Charming and unconventional, the professor takes a class at the Leonardo Da Vinci high school where he applies his non-conformist teaching method and establishes a very particular relationship with his students, including Simone.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Simone Balestra (Nicolas Maupas) is a student of the 3rd B and son of Dante (Alessandro Gassman) , with whom he does not have a good relationship. He is an apparently rather calm boy, but in reality very insecure and troubled by the discovery of new aspects of himself and his life. He will leave Laura (Elisa Cocco) because she will realize she is gay and he will fall in love with Manuel (Damiano Gavino). The two will share a night of passion. When he finds out about his twin Jacopo, he will try to commit suicide, only to be rescued by Manuel and Anita (Claudia Pandolfi).

SPECIAL: The theme song of the series is the song Spazio tempo, sung by Francesco Gabbani. In the second season the song ‘Dammi un kiss ja' by Leo Gassmann becomes part of the soundtrack.
