A PLACE TO CALL HOME is an Australian television drama series created by Bevan Lee for the Seven Network. It premiered on April 28, 2013. The show was canceled after its second season, but received further funding and concluded successfully after a total of six seasons in 2018. A PLACE TO CALL HOME consists of 67 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: Set in rural New South Wales in the post-World War II era, it follows Sarah Adams (Marta Dusseldorp), who returned to Australia after twenty years abroad to start a new life and eventually collides with wealthy matriarch Elizabeth Bligh (Noni Hazlehurst).

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: James Bligh (David Berry) is the only son of George (Brett Climo) and Elaine and grandson of Elizabeth Bligh, who grows up believing that Anna (Abby Earl) is his sister. Despite his gay relationships with local farmhand Harry (Dominic Allburn) and his love for fellow student William, he marries William's sister Olivia (Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood), but, still haunted by his homosexual desires, tries to commit suicide. During Olivia's pregnancy, he undergoes electroconvulsive therapy and aversion therapy to change his sexuality. He feels betrayed when Olivia has an affair, but returns to Ash Park to live for his son. He becomes involved with Henry Fox (Tim Draxl), his father's doctor. Henry befriends James and they realize their mutual attraction is stronger than mere friendship. Henry helps James to be gay without drawing attention, and the Bligh family eventually accepts that their relationship is beneficial to James' mental stability. In the series finale, we learn that James died of AIDS in 1986
