ØYEVITNE (Int. Title: Eyewitness) is a 2014 Norwegian crime drama produced by the Norwegian NRK. It is written and directed by Jarl Emsell Larsen. The series was remade in 2016 for USA Network as Eyewitness for HBO Europe as Valea Mută, and for TF1 in 2018 as Les Innocents. ØYEVITNE consists of 6 episodes of 59 minutes.
STORY: The series follows the investigation into a multiple homicide witnessed by two teenage boys. 15-year-old teenagers Philip (Axel Bøyum) and Henning (Odin Waage) are classmates and neighbours, but also secretly in love. During a discreet encounter at a gravel pit in the nearby forest, they witness the shooting of four members of a criminal gang. They too are threatened by the killer, but overpower the killer and escape with the murder weapon. Not wanting their relationship to be revealed, the boys decide to keep quiet about being at the crime scene. Local police chief Helen Sikkelland (Anneke von der Lippe) leads the investigation into the murder. She is also Philip's foster mother.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: 15-year-old teenagers Philip (Axel Bøyum) and Henning (Odin Waage) live in the small village of Mysen, near the Norwegian border with Sweden. They are classmates and neighbours and secretly in love.

SPECIAL: In January 2016, USA Network placed an outright order for 10 episodes for a US adaptation by Shades of Blue producer Adi Hasak, titled Eyewitness. Eyewitness premiered on USA Network on October 16, 2016. From October 23, 2016, HBO Europe presented a Romanian adaptation of the four-episode series, titled Valea Mută (The Silent Valley). In January 2018, TF1 aired a six-episode French adaptation of the series, titled Les Innocents (The Innocents).
