OUTLANDER is a historical drama series based on Diana Gabaldon's novel series of the same name. Developed by Ronald D. Moore, the show premiered on August 9, 2014 on Starz. OUTLANDER consists of 101 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: Starring Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married former WWII military nurse in Scotland, who is transported back in time to 1743 in 1945. There she meets and falls in love with dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a member of Gabaldon's fictional version of Clan Fraser of Lovat, and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite Rebellion.

GAY COUPLE STORY: John William Gray (David Berry) is a fictional character created by Diana Gabaldon. He is the protagonist of the Lord John series of historical mystery novels and novellas. Secretly gay "at a time when that particular predilection could get someone hanged". Gray and Jamie (Sam Heughan) start eating weekly, playing chess and exchanging information about the prisoners. Gray falls in love with Jamie, who rejects his advances. Still, Gray can't ignore his feelings. In 1756, after successfully rebuilding the prison into a fortress, Gray arranges for Jamie to be paroled in Helwater.
