NEW AMSTERDAM is an American medical drama series based on Eric Manheimer's book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital, which premiered on NBC on September 25, 2018. Created by David Schulner, starring Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine. In February 2019, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season, which premiered on September 24, 2019. In January 2020, NBC extended the series for three additional seasons. The third season premiered on March 2, 2021. The fourth season premiered on September 21, 2021. NEW AMSTERDAM consists of 89 episodes 43 minutes.

STORY: New Amsterdam follows Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) as the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States, aiming to transform this neglected facility by cutting red tape and providing exceptional patient care.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Dr. Ignatius "Iggy" Frome (Tyler Labine) is a psychiatrist and head of the psychiatry department. Martin McIntyre (Mike Doyle) is the husband of Dr. frome. The character of Dr. Iggy is openly gay.
