THE MAGICIANS is an American fantasy television series which aired on Syfy and is based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. Michael London, Janice Williams, John McNamara and Sera Gamble are executive producers. THE MAGICIANS consists of 65 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) enrols at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy to train as a magician, where he discovers that the magical world from his favourite childhood book is real and a danger to humanity. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Julia (Stella Maeve)'s life is derailed when she's denied entry and she looks for magic elsewhere outside of school.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Eliot Waugh (Hale Appleman) is a student at Brakebills and senior to Quentin (Jason Ralph), with whom he has a very close friendship. He is a heavy drinker. Appleman also portrays the Monster at the End of the World who inhabits Eliot's body in Season 4. Quentin Coldwater is a graduate student and discovers who really exists and poses a threat to his world. Ralph also portrays Quentin Coldwater from an alternate timeline. Within this timeline, he takes on the persona of the Beast. Eliot and Quentin are close, and there are suggestions for a plot where Eliot and Quentin's relationship takes a romantic turn.
