HOUSE OF CARDS is an American political thriller streaming television series created by Beau Willimon. It is an adaptation of the 1989 novel of the same name by Michael Dobbs. House of Cards is the first TV series produced by a studio for Netflix. House of Cards is set in Washington, D.C. HOUSE OF CARDS consists of 129 episodes of 50 minutes.

STORY: The series revolves around Congressman Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), a Democrat from South Carolina's 5th congressional district and House Majority Whip and his equally ambitious wife Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). Frank is passed over for appointment as Secretary of State, so he initiates an elaborate plan to take power as US President and is aided by Claire.

GAY PEOPLE STORYLINE: In a suspected retaliation, Russia jails American Michael Corrigan (Christian Camargo), accused of participating as gay in a protest in Russia. Claire Underwood is negotiating the peace resolution with Russian Ambassador Alexi Moryakov. These end with Claire asking Underwood calling on Russia to release Michael Corrigan. With Underwood's support, Claire postpones the UN vote and Corrigan is released on the condition that she and her husband visit Russia. Meanwhile, Secret Service Agent travels with Corrigan's husband, John Pasternak (Todd Alan Crain), and plans are hatched to go behind President Underwood's back and shoot holes in his foreign policy plan.
