HOME AND AWAY (often abbreviated as H&A) is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. HOME AND AWAY consists of 8629 episodes of 22 minutes.
STORY: This series chronicles the lives, loves, happiness, and heartbreaks of the residents of Summer Bay, a small coastal town just outside of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE 1: Charlie McKinnon (Matt Levett) befriends Kim Hyde (Chris Hemsworth) and Rachel Armstrong (Amy Mathews) and becomes dangerously obsessed with Kim. Kim stays behind with Kit (Amy Mizzi) and fearing they will die, the pair have sex. The party is found and Kim and Kit's liaison is revealed to Rachel, who forgives Kim.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE 2: Coco Astoni (Anna Cocquerel) finds Ryder Jackson (Lukas Radovich) at the Diner and she knows he is upset, but Ryder is being cagey as he doesn't want to spill Ty Anderson's (Darius Williams) secret. In the end, Coco gets Ryder to confess that Ty kissed him. They wonder why Ty didn't just say so if he's gay. Later, Ryder confronts Ty about the kiss and tries to understand what happened. In response, Ty gives him the cold shoulder and claims that he confused Ryder for Raffy Morrison (Olivia Deeble). Ryder doesn't buy it and pushes Ty to reveal the truth. Ty becomes angry, shoving Ryder as he asks Ty if he is gay.Ryder doesn't want to fight Ty and is cool with him being gay, but Ty lashes out and the boys end up in a fight, witnessed by Raffy and Coco.

SPECIAL: Home and Away's storylines have ranged from mild to serious issues throughout its run. The show has also featured many natural disaster storylines, including a cyclone, storm, flood, landslide, earthquake, and bushfires. There have also been several storylines involving car, bus, plane and boating accidents. Furthermore, in addition to the show featuring scenes of moderate to strong violence in past episodes, the special episode, Home and Away: All or Nothing, which became available for online streaming in January 2017, was intended for "adult-only" viewing as it was described as the most violent episode of the entire series, as it contains scenes of strong violence.
