HAPPY ENDINGS is an American television sitcom that aired on ABC from April 13, 2011, to May 3, 2013 and was created by David Caspe. Caspe and Jonathan Groff. HAPPY ENDINGS consists of 58 episodes of 22 minutes.
STORY: Happy Endings follows the dysfunctional adventures of six best friends living in Chicago: "crazy-in-love" married couple, businessman overachiever Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) and his neurotic perfectionist wife Jane (Eliza Coupe); ditzy Alex (Elisha Cuthbert), a boutique owner and Jane's younger sister; daydreamer Dave (Zachary Knighton), a food truck owner; slacker manchild Max (Adam Pally),; and outgoing party girl Penny (Casey Wilson), a serial dater on an eternal search for Mr. Right.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Max (Adam Pally) implores the gang for once not to abuse his new boyfriend, Grant (James Wolk), but he proves too perfect to criticize. The mates rival to spend time with him. Max himself reverts in the pattern to seek a flaw as excuse to dump first, but can't find one either, in or out of. Max is fairly casual about relationships, more often settling for brief flings, but he notably dated Grant until Max discovered that Grant did not want children. Max is Jewish, but is licensed as a minister of a non-denominational Christian church to officiate weddings.
Max Blum (Adam Pally) & Grant (James Wolk)
ADAM PALLY (2011-2020) March 18, 1982, New York City, NY, USA
JAMES WOLK (2012) March 22, 1985, Farmington Hills, MI, USA
SPECIAL: The character of Max, who is gay, is typically portrayed as a “straight” gay man. So, his fear or reluctance to be in a committed relationship is viewed as comparable to the character of Chandler Bing from Friends (1994 to 2004) being reluctant to say “I love you” or move in with the character of Monica. There is enormous character development for Max when he can picture himself and Grant “having a future, moving in together, getting married and having kids”.
