THE GODFATHER SAGA

CRIME / DRAMA / THRILLER

USA

1972-1977

THE GODFATHER SAGA is a 1977 American television miniseries that combines films The Godfather and The Godfather Part II into one series. It originally aired on NBC for four consecutive nights in November 1977. The Godfather Saga is also known as The Godfather 1901-1959: The Complete Novel for Television (on HBO). The TV version formed the basis for a shorter 1981 video release known as The Godfather 1902-1959: The Complete Epic. After the release of The Godfather Part III in 1990, a third unified version was released on video in 1992, titled The Godfather Trilogy: 1901-1980. THE GODFATHER SAGA consists of 4 episodes of 1 hour and 8 minutes.

STORY: A clan of six Italian families rules the underworld of New York. Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is the head of one of those families. A certain Sollozo (Al Lettieri) wants to smuggle drugs with the cooperation of the Corleone family and the Tattaglia family. Vito Corleone refuses to cooperate. Wanting to exert pressure, the Tattaglia family decides to clean up old Vito. This incident leads to a war between the six families.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Observations in The Godfather reveal that Fredo (John Cazale) is gay and Moe Greene (Alex Rocco) is his lover. This is the rarest, deepest and most vital secret of The Godfather saga. Fredo is a son of mafia boss Don Vito Corleone.

Fredo Corleone (John Cazale) & Moe Greene (Alex Rocco)

SPECIAL: In the 1970s, there was no clue to give healthy images of gay love. The closest was The Godfather Part 2, a first man-to-man action by Michael and Fredo Corleone. https://youtu.be/FcFlp6kl508
