GIRLS is an American comedy-drama television series created by and starring Lena Dunham, executive-produced by Judd Apatow. The series depicts four young women living in New York City. GIRLS consists of 62 episodes of 28 minutes.

STORY: Two years after graduating from Oberlin College, aspiring writer Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) is shocked when her parents announce they will no longer financially support her life in Brooklyn, New York. Left to her own devices, Hannah navigates her twenties "one mistake at a time”.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Elijah Krantz (Andrew Rannells) is Hannah's ex-boyfriend from college, who reveals that he is gay. Despite some initial hostility between the pair, they eventually become friends and later roommates on and off. Dill Harcourt (Corey Stoll) is an openly gay man, he enjoys a bachelor's lifestyle with many casual relationships. He takes Elijah out on their first date in Old Loves to a fancy Manhattan restaurant. Dill ends up rejecting Elijah by saying he’s looking for who's less aimless, but says he'll think of him every time he goes to Brooklyn.

SPECIAL: The cast of Girls are experts on shooting awkward sex scenes. When Elijah finally hooked up with his sexy would-be boyfriend, Dill, last season, the scene consisted of Dill basically screaming a series of demands: “Fuck me! Stop talking! Harder! Faster! Slower! Stop, stop, stop! Now go! Go! Faster! Slower! Slower, then faster! Stop talking! Fuck me! Fuck me!” in an attempt to make things less uncomfortable behind the scenes, Rannells recalls making them even more awkward when he tried to fill the silences with chit-chat.

AWARDS: ‘GIRLS’ won 2 Primetime Emmys, 19 wins and 124 nominations.
