STORY: An epic love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men, who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington. Handsome and charismatic Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer) avoids emotional entanglements, that is until he meets Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE 1: These two men begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on "subversives and sexual deviants," initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history. Over the course of four decades, Hawk (Matt Bomer) and Tim (Jonathan Bailey) cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fuelled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves

SPECIAL: A show on the biggest closet gays in American history, Senator McCarthy and Roy Cohn, his lawyer. Their hatred over their own sexual desires made them spread homophobia all over the country. The invasive tactics of the FBI and the government into gay men’s lives is portrait here extremely powerfully. Both experience the insane level of homophobic hatred from the very top in the most insane ways.Noah J. Ricketts: “I feel like a lot of queer people, our history begins for us at Stonewall, and then goes forward from there. And so, to go pre-Stonewall, I had to do a lot of digging, and Google was my best friend. And I love finding these niche documentaries that highlighted the trans experience and the drag experience and finding the random source material and the books...”
