EASTENDERS is a British soap opera created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland and has been broadcast on BBC One since 1985. EASTENDERS consists of 6928 episodes of 30 minutes.
STORY: The series is set in Albert Square in the East End of London in the fictional Walford district. It follows the stories of local residents and their families during their daily lives. Ben Mitchell is a fictional character, who has been played by six different actors since his birth in the series on March 21, 1996.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Ben (Max Bowden) and Callum's (Tony Clay) road to romance is anything but smooth. Ben found out in May 2019 that Callum was struggling with his sexuality. Ben does everything he can to make Callum accept who he really was, but Callum insists he is in love with Whitney and proposes to her. But Callum can't suppress his true feelings and ends up sleeping with Ben while he is still engaged to Whitney. The double life becomes too much for him and he lashes out and beats Ben, while he struggles with the fact that they had spent a night together.
