DERTIGERS (Int. Title: Thirties) started on May 18, 2020 and is a Dutch broadcast of BNNVARA on NPO 3. The series is a remake of Dertigers (Flemish television series). The series is successful: via online delayed viewing, the episodes were viewed more than 5.3 million within six weeks. That is why the NPO decided on September 7, 2020 that a second season will be made. The series has been praised for its balanced cast and excellent acting. DERTIGERS consists of 96 episodes of 30 minutes.

STORY: Eight Dutch college friends, now in their thirties, navigate life, love and share a trauma. Pieter (Wieger Windhorst), Nora (Joy Wielkens), Lot (Leonoor Koster), Bart (Lykele Muus), Alex (Justus van Dillen) and Saar (Eva Laurenssen) have been friends since their student days in Amsterdam. The six grapple with the challenges of their generation, the balance between work and family and the secrets of an unresolved trauma that links them inextricably but also threatens to drift apart.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: The relationship between the gay couple Elias (Jelle de Jong) and Alex (Justus van Dillen) is the most stable of the six friends. There are problems to solve, but they are very much in love and live together. Elias has a big surprise for his partner Alex and he can't wait to share the news with the rest of the group of friends during a pétanque game.

Alex (Justus van Dillen) & Elias (Jelle de Jong)

JELLE DE JONG (2020-now) April 26, 1987, The Hague, Netherlands

SPECIAL: Peters, producer: “In the group of friends, for example, we didn't pay too much attention to the gay couple. I don't find a gay couple earth-shattering. That is different in Belgium. Emancipation of homosexuality is important, but I want to show that without standing too much on the barricades. Among the Belgians, one of the gay men had major problems with his stepmother because of his sexuality. Yes, we passed that station in the Netherlands.”
