THE  DL  CHRONICLES

DRAMA / ROMANTIC DRAMA

USA

2005

THE DL CHRONICLES is a gay-themed television series that debuted on American LGBT station here! in 2007 for one season that consisted of four episodes. It was revived in 2012 as "The DL Chronicles Returns". The series was created by filmmakers Quincy LeNear and Deondray Gossett who also serve as the producers and directors of the series. THE DL CHRONICLES consists of 5 episodes of 30 minutes.

STORY: The series debut season focused on the stories of men who live secret lives. From a highly successful executive to the street corner hustler, from the happily married father of two, to the college athlete's first love, each episode, featuring a different cast, delved into the different lives and experiences of men living on the "down low". Each episode features narration from Chadwick Williams (Damian Toofeek Raven), an aspiring journalist, as he pursues research while authoring a book about men who have sex with men (MSM).

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Wes Thomas (Darren Washington), an upwardly mobile real- banker, soon finds himself overwhelmed by the demands of his marriage, career, and closeted attraction to men. When Wes' sexy but ambivalent brother-in-law Trent Porter (Ty Vincent) stops in for an unexpected stay, he is faced with temptation and ultimately falls for the forbidden fruit.

SPECIAL: It's important to remember that this "series" was conceived for the small rather than large screen. As such, it's a respectably written (by Quincy Lenear) and directed (by LeNear and Doendray Gossett) series on a now-timely topic. The created year of 2005 already makes a difference in 2008, with less "bite" than probably it had just three years ago.
