CUMPLEAÑOS: (Int. Title: Birthday) is a Chilean television series produced by Valcine and broadcast by Televisión Nacional de Chile in 2011. Directed by Leonardo Valsecci and written by Jaime Morales and Paula Del Fierro. CUMPLEAÑOS consists of 4 episodes.

STORY: The series is about a planned meeting between former classmates in memory of a girl, Emilia, who died ten years earlier, just on the day she turned 18. However, the ultimate purpose of this encounter is the reason to reveal the true causes of her death. The story consists of eight chapters, all of which are near real-time.

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Gustavo Echaurren (Santiago Tupper) is Catalina's brother and married to María Paz (Ignacia Beaza). He married her young while she was still in school because she became pregnant and since then he has been living in the shadow of everyone around her (her father, his wife and her sister). He is gay and has feelings for Federico. Federico Vial (Francisco Celhay) is Gustavo's best friend. After Emilia's pregnancy, he decided to settle in England. He returns to Chile exclusively because he wants to get rid of something. His secret is that he is gay and in love with Gustavo.

SPECIAL: Although the premise of Cumpleaños is content-wise a classic of the suspense genre (the search for a killer among a group of friends), the "form" and the language with which the story is presented is a novelty.
