CHEN QING LING (Int. Title: The Untamed) is a 2019 Chinese television series based on Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's xianxia novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, starring Zhan Xiao and Yibo Wang. The series aired in China on Tencent Video from June 27 to August 20, 2019 in 50 episodes. A 20-episode special edition of the drama, airing on WeTV from December 25, 2019. It is currently available worldwide on the online streaming platform Netflix. CHEN QING LING consists of 30 episodes of 50 minutes.
STORY: Wei Wuxian (Zhan Xiao), an abhorred practitioner of dark and demonic arts, is resurrected 16 years after his tragic death. His return to the world leads him to reunite with the people of his first life, including his soul mate, the honored Lan Wangji (Yibo Wang). Wei Wuxian then begins to remember his time before his passing, from his beginnings as a young cultivator to his descent into dark magic.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: 16 years ago, when Wei Wuxian (Zahn Xiao) was a teenager and had attended the Gusu Lan sect to receive training, he met his soul mate Lan Wangji (Yibo Wang), the righteous, quiet man born of a noble family. With his temperate temperament, Lan Wang Li never managed to make friends until the free-spirited and lively Wei Wuxian came into his life. Wei Wuxian returned to his home after finishing his training and a series of catastrophic events caused him to give away his spiritual power to save the life of his brother figure, Jiang Cheng. The mentally weak Wei Wuxian was tortured and thrown into the burial mounds.
