AS THE WORLD TURNS (often abbreviated as ATWT) is an American television soap opera that ran on CBS for 54 years from April 2, 1956 to September 17, 2010. AS THE WORLD TURNS consists of 13.339 episodes of 1 hour.

STORY: ATWT targeted the upper class: the Hughes and Stewart families with their trials and tribulations in Midwest Oakland. The Stewarts eventually disappear to be replaced by the rural Snyders and the wealthy Lucinda Walsh (Elizabeth Hubbard) with her many intrigues. Luke Snyder (Van Hansis) is the son of Holden (Jon Hensley) and Lily Snyder (Martha Byrne) and took over from Jake Weary on December 14, 2005. In the spring of 2006, Luke Snyder came out. In March 2007, Van Hansis and Jake Silberman attended the GLAAD Media Awards two months before they aired. Their on-air debut was on June 1, 2007. Their roles of Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer and their relationship was a huge hit. Hansis was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2007, 2008 and 2009. 

GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Luke (Van Hansis) and Noah (Jake Silbermann) meet at WOAK, a local television station in Oakdale, where they work as interns. The relationship doesn't quite go smoothly as Noah still struggles with his homosexuality and is unable to express his feelings as freely as Luke. Noah continues to work on it and at his instigation they move in together. Though Noah would like to have an apartment of his own with Luke, he accepts Luke's proposal to move into Luke's childhood home. However, the couple is not allowed to share the bed in this house.
