1899 is a multilingual German period mystery-science fiction television series created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. It received generally favourable reviews. 1899 consists of 8 episodes of 1 hour.
STORY: Set in 1899, the series follows a group of European emigrants travelling from Southampton, UK on a steamship named Kerberos to start new lives in New York City, US. Almost every traveller is attempting to escape a troubled past.
GAY COUPLE STORYLINE: Miguel Bernardeau as Ángel, a wealthy Spaniard traveling with Ramiro (José Pimentão), who is a faux Portuguese priest. Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen as Krester, a young Danish man with a mysterious scar on his face. Ángel and Ramiro initially appeared to be a brother duo, with Ramiro being the religious one and Ángel actually being the more reckless one. Ramiro regrets having to take on his identity as a priest. The two are actually a couple who escaped their house. Ángel is rather impulsive and develops feelings for Krester. He thoroughly likes his facial scar. Krester is gay and he has previously been mistreated by a wealthy someone, possibly as a result of that scar.

We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don't turn out the way you planned. We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were a part of this wonderful adventure. We love you. Never forget.".
